Stains
Common causes: high heat pan/wok left on stone, coffee/oil stains left for a long period of time.
Liability: The above causes do not reflect natural wear and tear. Precaution such as regular cleaning and using felt pad could have been undertaken. As a result, these should be considered as renter negligence.
Repair: Specialised cleaning product need to be ordered to treat the stone and most of the time these stains can be lifted or improved.
Chips/Dents
Common causes: knife/pot/pan dropped onto the stone.
Liability: The above causes do not reflect natural wear and tear. Precaution could have been taken. As a result, these should be considered as renter negligence.
Repair: Specialised quartz powder and glue can be used to repair the damaged area. The glue needs to be fully dried before sanding and polishing, and finally drawing the matching stone pattern by hand. A very lengthy and time consuming process.
Large Cracks and Shuttered Pieces
Common causes: heavy pot/pan or other items smashed onto the stone.
Liability: The above causes do not reflect natural wear and tear. Precaution could have been taken. As a result, these should be considered as renter negligence.
Repair: Specialised quartz powder and glue can be used to repair the damaged area. The glue needs to be fully dried before sanding and polishing, and finally drawing the matching stone pattern by hand. A even lengthier process as it is very time consuming.
